Este perro de caza llegó el día de su castración con un ojo claramente más grande que el otro, sangre en su interior, y una pequeña bolsa de pus dentro. No podía ver con el ojo malo, ni su pupila respondía a la luz directa. Malo...

His owner didn't know what could be the cause of it, although she thought it may have happened while playing with other dogs he lives with. 

Su dueño no sabía a qué se podía deber, aunque pensaba que podría haber ocurrido mientras jugaba con los otros perros con los que vive.

This eye problem is very serious. Although the blood is shocking, and any infection is always dangerous, I was very concerned Robert gets blind for ever if I cannot reduce his eyeball pressure or glaucoma, that would kill the optic nerve within hours. Besides, it is a very painful condition, and it can even end with a surgical removal of the eye.

Este problema ocular es muy serio. Aunque la sangre parezca ecandalosa, y cualquier infección siempre sea peligrosa, lo que me preocupaba es que robert se quedase ciego si no bajábamos la presión ocular o glaucoma, que mataría al nervio óptico en cuestión de horas. Además, es muy doloroso, e incluso puede acabar en extirpación quirúrgica del ojo (enucleación).

Under sedation it was checked with a ophtalmoscope, but everything behind the iris seemed okey. For several weeks his eye was monitored, at the same time he needed antibiotics, non steroids antiinflamatories, diuretics to reduce the liquid that put his eyesight at risk, and several types of eyedrops four times a day.

Bajo sedación se examina en profundidad con el oftalmoscopio, pero todo parece bien detrás del iris. Durante varias semanas se le hace un seguimiento, a la vez que se le prescriben antibióticos, antiinflamatorios no esteroideos, diuréticos que eliminen el líquido que pone en riesgo su vista, y varios tipos de gotas oculares, cuatro veces al día.

Luckily, this dog had his eyesight saved, what is not very usual as most cases arrive too late at the emergency clinic. It is very likely that Robert's case were a secondary glaucoma due to a trauma or the inflamation within the eye.

Por suerte, se salvó la vista al perro, lo que no es muy común ya que muchos casos llegan demasiado tarde a la clínica de urgencia. Es muy probable que el caso de Robert se debiera a un glaucoma secundario por un trauma o la inflamación dentro del ojo.
